sailing competitions were held there in 1992. It is also home to the Golden Fish sculpture by Frank Gehry.
Building work began on the neighbourhood of la Barceloneta in 1754, with the first houses for fishermen who needed to live beside the sea. The neighbourhood has changed a lot, although it still retains its fishing village charm, particularly in its restaurants, which specialise in rice, seafood and fish dishes. In the Moll dels Pescadors stands the Clock Tower, built in 1772, and once a lighthouse. The beach of Barceloneta is one of Barcelona's most popular. It is very long and is always full of life in summer: bathers, hawkers, terraces, beach bars and people flying kites.
